The Four Pillars of Teaching HEMA -or- Managing Expectations

The Four Pillars of Teaching HEMA is a lecture designed to help instructors identify what they’re teaching and how they’re teaching it, working to build a curriculum based on managing the expectations of the instructor and the student. The Four Pillars discussed are “Instruction,” “Skills Improvement,” “Coaching,” and “Training.” Patrick explains and compares the Four Pillars to other sports and pursuits before taking the time to help work through an example curriculum.
